On Wednesday morning, my cat didn’t finish his breakfast. I came home after work to find multiple spots where he’d thrown up. He was lethargic and had bloody diarrhea.
We took him to the emergency vet; all of their tests (urinalysis, blood panel, X-Rcoulday, and ultrasound, off the top of my head) came back clean, except for showing inflammation of his digestive tract. He also had a fever.
They treated him with two types of antibiotics, a steroid, an appetite stimulant, anti-nausea meds, and fluids. We took him home on Thursday night. I brought him back to the vet on Friday night because he was still extremely lethargic and hadn’t eaten or drank while in our care.
I just picked him back up from the vet. His fever is gone. He was more active at the vet’s office (they discontinued a few of the meds, including the pain medicine, which they said cause somnolence.) He still has shown no interest in eating or drinking.
What can we do? Does anyone have advice? It’s upsetting that we can’t find anything wrong with him but for some reason he still won’t eat.
