Current situation: I live in a home with 2 dogs (lab husky mixes) about 2 years old. There are also 2 cats in my home (I'm not sure how old they are, we adopted maybe 1 as a kitten, but the other was certainly an adult). All our animals have been in our house for 2-3 years. We also have an outside cat we've had hanging around since late summer
I would really like to adopt an older cat from the shelter, since right now, you can adopt adult cats for no cost, since my shelter is bursting at the seams with them (still have to submit application to see if you are a good fit)
I would really like to adopt one as an ESA since I have depression and anxiety, and am taking medication to help. My therapist thinks its a good idea, but my parents think ESAs are stupid (not sure why).
Any advice for how I could convince my parents to adopt another baby, so she/he can have a home in my house, or even if its a good idea. I'm not always 100% on top of caring every single day, but I do try my best.
I'd really appreciate some advice on what I should do, and how I should go about it.
I've asked my parents before, and there response is "We already have enough animals," or something along the lines of that. They don't think I'll take care of another.
