I took my 10 week old kitten to the vet yesterday and she needs to take 3 different medications for the next 7 days. One is a paste, a liquid in a syringe, and ear drops. The ear drops are easiest, just pop a little in her ears when she's resting. The paste, I put on a treat and she goes to town. But she absolutely hates the liquid syringe forced into her mouth. She seems to hate the taste too, she runs to her water bowl after we're done. I've watched YouTube videos on how to administer it properly so I am putting the syringe behind her canine tooth and slowly releasing. However, she she spits, tries to run, and keeps moving her head around - as expected. I understand this is her health and I need to get this done but she won't come anywhere near me after we're done. Eventually she forgets and comes to cuddle but I'm afraid after 7 days and 14 doses of this, she is not going to trust me anymore.
Guess I'm just looking for some of your experiences of giving your cat meds they hated and what their behavior was like after? Thanks so much!
