I'm on mobile and I can't sleep so I apologize for formatting as well as any typos or grammatical errors. I can't afford a vet rn(my mom just had to give up buying a winter coat just so we could wash laundry at the laundromat). Backstory:My cat Gracie is 3 years old. I adopted her last July. They informed us that she was surrended back to the shelter due to her chewing cords. Apparently, one of the family members fell ill and was required a breathing tool of some sort and she chewed right through them. They also told us she was somewhat fearful - that's an understatement. "Fine," we said. "How bad could it be?" I have such a fear of her chewing yet another cord that we cannot afford to replace. So it's a very big deal that I have a safe space to put my cords, which is on my desk. The issues aren't in order of importance or anything, I just don't know what to do anymore. First issue: At first, she would hop onto tabletops and when getting told off, would hop down. She has now developed the habit of simply going on her back legs and swatting whatever she sees. I was able to buy her a pack of new toys from amazon and it seemed to help. She was more stimulated and played a lot more. 2. She is extremely clingy. She follows me everywhere. If she's asleep, and I get off my bed, she will wake up to follow me. And if I close the door, she's meowing the entire time. Recently, I got into the habit of kicking her out of my room when she's bad and she'll meow for 2+ hours at my door. 3. She doesn't poop in her litter box. I know this points to bigger, medical issues, but right now I can't afford to take her to the vet. I sometimes slack cleaning her litter box(i have very bad depression, but im working on it!) But even if its clean, she sometimes won't poop in the litter box. She does pee there however. Recently, she developed a habit of meowing very loudly with the need for me to watch her poop or essentially chase her into the litter box. 4. She's very anxious. If she hears someone too close to our door/window(we live in a basement apartment) she runs. If someone knocks on the door, she runs. If someone comes in, she runs. She will hide for hours. Sometimes the entire day out of fear. When we watch my nephew, she hides for about 5 hours before venturing out and doing whatever she wants to do. I'm not sure why this is(well, it could be that she's known him for a while? He's about to turn 2) I hate how anxious she is and it took us a month when we first adopting her for her to stop sleeping behind the washer and dryer. She sleeps with me primarily and will come to me when she wants to play, eat, wants attention etc. I play with her, maybe I need to play with her more, but she's pretty finicky. We were also able to buy her a cat tree that she hardly uses. She typically always has food and I probably pet/hold her/give her attention for about 2 hours a day(not at once, but she's spoiled in that regard.) I feel at loss with what to do and everyone says to spray her with water. Which I do, but I don't want too. My mom's friend who works as an animal rescuer(?) - think animal cops - says that what I should do as well as her friend whose had a cat for years says I should spray her. I only spray her when she just won't stop acting up. I got a cat as a companion and to help me with my depression and anxiety in some fashion. I've had two cats prior who were never like this and were very low maintenance. Gracie wasn't always like this and I don't know how to break her habits. I know there's no "fix" that will happen overnight, but she stresses me out so much. I just don't know what to do. Thank you in advance! Also, I know reddit is known for being harsh, but please go easy on me?
Also I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post it, I'm still new to the rules of posting and not just reading. I'll delete this if need be!
