Background: We became roommates in August and my dog was the only dog in the apartment, my roommate adopted a 3 month old goldendoodle in October, who is now 5 months old.
When my roommate adopted her puppy we set some rules so they both would have their own space. My dog isn't allowed in my roommates room and her puppy isn't allowed in my room. I moved my dog's food and water to my room, in my bathroom. Her puppy knows this rule, she never enters my room when my roommate us watching, but she has realized that my dog's food is in my room and whenever my back is turned or I leave I find her eating my dog's food. There are multiple problems with this:
1) I measure my dog's food daily, so if the puppy is eating her food I don't know how much my dog is actually getting to eat. 2) My dog has prescription diet food and it's expensive 3) The puppy has diarrhea everytime she eats my dog's food
I'm not sure what to do. I'm upset about the puppy constantly eating my dog's food. My roommate is upset because her puppy gets diarrhea from eating my dog's food. We have two other roommates, and when I leave I usually leave my bedroom door open so my dog can hang out with them, while also having access to her crate, bed, and food (in my room).
Am I being unreasonable by expecting my roommate to keep her puppy out of my dog's food?
