So I’ve had my cat since he was a small kitten. He is now about 4 years old and we just rescued a new kitten and he’s about 6 months. For the first few weeks my older cat wasn’t having it. Hissing at the sight of the new kitten, very moody, very depressed. We’ve kept them separated and have done things like feed them at the same time but through a door. Introduce smells. Switch the rooms they’re in so they can smell and explore. We’ve tried bringing them together once and my older cat hates it. Hissing, growling, the works. The kitten was very scared. Cut to now, a few weeks later, and we try again and my older cat was doing so so so good. No hissing, no growling, he was cautious but that’s about it. Then we let them smell each other my older cat gets close to the kitten and they’re doing so well! Then all of a sudden the kitten swipes at my older cats face and my older cat retreats, hisses and growls. Idk what to do at this point. Its about to be a month since we first rescued the kitten and I’m not sure what to do. Any advice for me? I just want both the little guys to be happy and okay.
