Hey. So my brother just got a 10 month old cockatiel for his birthday yesterday and I was wondering how long it should go before I let her out of the cage.
The pet store owner recommended keeping her in the cage for 2 weeks before letting her out, yet some resources on the internet says that it's somewhat extreme. As long as nobody disturbs her, she becomes very active and starts nibbling on things in the cage out of curiosity. She's also a little bit of a troublemaker as she has knocked down her food and water dispenser already. As I'm typing this she just let out her first chirp as I'm sitting across the room working on my assignment so she can get used to my presence.
She seems rather restless in the cage and I'm tempted to let her out so she can explore the room properly. Am I overestimating her ability to acclimate and should she stay in there for the time being?
