Newly adopted senior cat has been sick for two months, ever since I brought him home

Sorry this is a long post, and I’m on mobile so format is probably terrible as well, but please hear me out. So I am a first time cat owner, and I’m totally at a loss here. Ever since I brought my kitty home (just over 2 months ago) he has been vomiting either white foam or orange bile at least once every two days, and up to twice a day. He also has varying levels of diarrhea, last week it was totally liquid. This week it’s still very soft and has developed a yellowish hue. When I first brought him to the vet it was attributed to stress, understandable as it was very early after adoption and he is a 13 year old cat so it makes sense the change would be harder on him. But now it has been two months and I don’t really know where to go from here. I have him on prescribed wet cat food for sensitive tummy’s, though I give him Friskys kibble if he gets hungry between meals. He has been prescribed medicines to reduce stomach acid, to stop the diarrhea, as well as a stress reducer. The medicines helped, but once the prescription ran out, it started again. I need to figure out what is causing his tummy troubles, not just treating the symptoms. He eats well, drinks water, loves to cuddle me, but is also a very skittish cat and hides often, sometimes for long periods of time, and generally prefers not to leave my room at all. He had blood work and other tests done in august, everything turned up completely normal and healthy. The vet I’ve been taking him to has no idea what could be the problem, other than serious diseases, and the tests are very expensive that I don’t know if I’m capable of affording. I also have a hard time believing my cat developed something pretty much immediately after his adoption. Any ideas what the issue could be? Thank you in advance!
