11month kitten vomiting

Hello, all I am a fairly new cat mom and I am very concerned about my kitten. He is an 11-month Domestic Long-haired kitten. Last night I came home from work I found vomit(mostly food) in front of the door. I thought he vomited because he ate too fast so I cleaned it up and went about my night. Then I found more vomit stains on my rug which looked like bile and he started to vomit clear liquid so I rushed him to the 24hour emergency animal hospital. After a couple of tests and x-rays, they said he might have eaten a piece of string that is caught in his small intestine. They said he might have to go get surgery but they aren't exactly sure what it might be. I took him home because I wasn't really comfortable with this new animal hospital(I felt like they just wanted money) and they said to monitor him for another day. All-day today he can barely hold down water and he lost his appetite(he LOVES food and he starts begging for food an hour before his meals) but he didn't vomit so I waited to take him to my vet. I'm gonna take him to my vet tomorrow but he is meowing like he is in pain. I don't know what to do.
