I rescued a kitten 2 years ago. She was extremely small, her mom stopped feeding her, and because she was so puny I think my dog didn’t mind her. They were always playing and cuddling, sharing plates of food, and just being genuinely adorable. Now that she is older, the dog is a jealous freak and won’t let her get anywhere near me. In fact she cautiously approaches me when he’s asleep next to me and she doesn’t see him on the bed (he blends in) and as soon as she detects him or he detects her, it’s over. She is desperate for affection and attention from me and the second he is away from me, she will run right up and take her chance. Anyway, they’re both fairly well behaved and house broken, but my dog has taken over my bed and won’t let her up on it, so now she’s resorted to hopping up and PISSING on the end of my bed while staring right at me. I even swat at her and yell for her to stop and she doesn’t even care. She’s like “bitch you’re taking this.” I know damn well that she is vengefully doing this, and also territorially as a way to claim her space on the bed. I try to get her to come up and lay with us but she’s no dummy and I’m not really sure how to handle it when my dog growls or lunges at her. He’d never bite her or attack but he like bonks her away. I don’t want to scold him for doing something that’s instinctive to him, but I’ve gotta curb this behavior and be able to give my cat some attention. I’d love some advice or experiences from others who have gone through something similar and how you fixed it, but any and all advice is appreciated.
