I adopted a kitten a week ago who is around 6 months old. She was taken in off the street about a month and a half ago. She is slowly warming up and loves being pet when she feels safe in enclosed spaces - purrs and rubs her face on my hands and rolls around. She also likes to play with cat toys, especially in the evening. But she is very scared to come out into the open. She has been staying in a single room, with her food, water, litter and bed, and I would like to have her start exploring the rest of the house but I am not sure how to tell when she is ready. Any advice on getting her to feel more safe in her new home?
