Adoption input for a young, single, and financially stable person?

I've been considering getting a puppy for at least 6 months and I believe I'm in a good spot. I live alone and do not have any friends, I left my "friend circle" right before Covid hit. I would like the responsibility and believe a dog could help get me out of the house too. Any input? When is a good time?

I'm a 25-year-old. I have my own apartment and I'm financially stable. I've also started working from home and have plenty of time for a puppy's needs. I'd be looking at getting a dog that will be able to live comfortably in an apartment environment, definitely taking into account the needs of different breeds.
