Ok, my boyfriend thinks I’m nuts (he’s too nice to say so but I can tell). Here goes... When I was a kid, I had a sweet golden retriever/German shepherd mix from the pound, he was with us for 6 years until he eventually passed away from kidney failure when i was 13 (so around 2009). We had to give him an IV every day for about three weeks up until his passing, it was the most horrible thing ever. I distinctly remembered smelling this gritty smell that reminded me of stomach bile.
About 3 days ago, I started smelling that same smell on my own pup’s paws. She is an 8 year old Labrador retriever, seems perfectly healthy with tons of energy, and she’s pretty hefty so not like she’s losing weight or anything. But it freaks me out that I keep smelling that bile smell on her. Am I crazy? Has anyone ever experienced this before?
