Hello people of the Internet! I am looking for advice in regards to my cat and dog. I moved recently and brought my cat with me. My girlfriend brought her dog. My cat is a very skittish cat and takes a long time to adjust to a new environment and people. She has spent most of her time hiding under the sofa since moving in. The dog is not bothered at all by the change.
For the most part the dog ignores the cat. The cat is apprehensive of the dog but makes no attempts to attack, just hisses if the dog get a little too close to her. My main problem is that there are certain times when the dog will become aggressive towards the cat. The dog likes to sleep in bed with us, so does the cat. When the cat tries to get into the bed or even the bedroom when we are sleeping, the dog will chase her away.
The other time my dog has show aggression is when she is sleeping on the off while we are sitting there watching TV. Its not all the time and I think it might be linked to the dog having her favourite toy on the sofa with us.
So I'm hoping for some advice on how to stop this behaviour and get the dog to stop chasing my cat away from the bedroom. I miss cuddles in bed with my cat very much
