Is my dog shitting out of spite?

She's an 8month old bichon frise who is stilly being potty trained. She's been using a potty pad and has learned to exclusively used it since a few months ago. The only time she has accidents is when the potty pad is totally full and we were too slow. We've been trying to train her to go outside, especially more now that we have the time and she is using a whole potty pad each day now.

Sometimes when she has accidents, it's when we aren't allowing her to do something destructive or give her food so it can seem like she's throwing a tantrum but upon googling, dogs don't seem to do that. But tonight, after taking her out multiple times today and only one pee spot on her pad, she shit in our bed (that she also sleeps in). During this time, she wanted to go into the living room to get food that my husband was eating and was whining incessantly. I tried to kennel train her, train her with treats. It seemed to work, she was running around and seemed a little guilty but I just thought she got into my underwear or something. Later on, I realized that she shit in my bed.

Now, I'm considering that she's finally making the connection that Outside=Potty and maybe she wanted to leave the bedroom because she needed to potty. I just didn't think she was ready for that yet. But..why didn't she just poop on her peepee pad or the floor? She's NEVER pooped on the bed.

Maybe this is a transmission issue. Like, she's confused or something? But I just wanted to get advise about this from other puppy owners (she's our first puppy) and to make sure that this isn't just bad behavior and we should be doing something different/listening to her better. And if this is a tantrum, how do we handle that?
