So my family has been taking care of the neighborhood cat for a couple of weeks and we noticed that he was missing a lot of fur. Today I took him to the vet and it turns out he has mange, heartworms, hookworms, ear mites, and maybe more in his digestive system. The vet says that if he doesn't succumb to the heartworms then he should make a good recovery, and we are very hopeful for him. I just spent $250 and I think it may not have been the most financially responsible thing I've done, but this was someone's cat that was just left outside to fend for himself and I feel that at some point someone needs to take responsibility for him. It's not his fault he got this bad and if something does happen to him, at least I'll have done my best to make him comfortable in his last days.
