My cat has always been obese. At her highest, she was 19 pounds. She was at the vet approximately one week ago or so and is now down to 13 pounds. She also had a blood panel done and everything was perfectly normal. Recently, she has become somewhat of a menace. I’m assuming she just has more energy now that she’s lost some weight, but her craving for dog food is unreal. She recently discovered she can now hop onto the kitchen counters, and she tore open a sealed bag of dog food that was on the counter and went to town in the middle of the night. She also knows when there is dog food in the trash can, and will do ANYTHING to get to it. My trash can has a lid that “locks”, but she has found out how to unlock it and she will tip over or dig in the trash to get dog food. I’m afraid that at some point she might hurt herself or eat something toxic. Any advice on managing this kind of behavior?
