Daisy, the first cat, about 13 years old. We got a new kitten, Chloe around 3-4 years ago. Daisy hates Chloe with a passion and attacked her multiple times when she was a kitten and successfully traumatized her. Daisy also hates our dog, a chocolate lab, who we got around 10 years ago. The dog protects the new cat from Daisy, the senior cat. They are best friends, hahaha.
Daisy lives upstairs with me and the Chloe and dog live downstairs. Daisy would go downstairs when the dog wasn’t looking and hunt down Chloe. They would end up fighting, with Daisy chasing the Chloe around or they would just have an extremely tense stare off.
Daisy now yowls at the top of the staircase when I’m downstairs for any extended period of time, and when I don’t come back up to her she frantically sprints around. My mom says she meows a lot when I’m gone. She follows me around upstairs. When I was gone at college, she would come downstairs and pester my mom for attention. She is extremely demanding.
Daisy has made it a habit to start peeing on clothes on my bedroom floor. For example, literally five seconds ago, I noticed Daisy kind of hunching over a pair of my jeans on the floor. I immediately screeched and chased her, picked her up and took her to the litter box and she didn’t go!! She peed a little bit on my jeans and then refused to go in her literally spotless litter box. I literally have a towel she peed on in the wash as I type this, and now I’m gonna have to wash these jeans too! Thanks Daisy!
She is old, so I’m not sure if this is just her age making her do this stupid stuff or if the other cat is really just causing her this much anxiety. I thought she would get over it eventually and just coexist with Chloe but nothing has changed. I’m exhausted.
Please don’t get me wrong, I love Daisy so much- she is my little baby, but I just cannot handle this behavior anymore and I have no idea how to make her accept Chloe and calm the F down.
