New Cat bonding room

We are rescuing a cat this week.
Rehoming via a rescue is new to us - our previous cat was my in-laws who came to stay with us and the cat never left. And we have looked after two strays who have just appeared.
The rescue and all online reading recommends a bonding room - we certainly have the space but I've just realised the spare room that we designated for her has no door furniture that allows it to close properly. Thanks to our shitty builders during our recent house renovation...

Normally I would hire a handyman to come fix it but we are currently in a restrictive lockdown and have very high rates of infection in our area. I am not keen on having someone in my house to fix it.

Now, my question would be - could I put her in our bedroom, where the door does close -the only door that does (thanks again shitty builders!)

We don't use the bedroom during the day.
Note: the spare room bed is too small for both of us otherwise we would move into there.
One of us could sleep in there at night instead of both if that would alleviate any potential anxiety.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! I'm not looking for suggestions on how to fix the door, we don't have the tools or time or skill and I am not comfortable going shopping. It has no handle or latch - (its a very old door that we intended replacing). I have looked at mesh pet screens but can't see anything that looks secure enough.

Other than this I am really excited to have a cat in the home once again. Our senior cat died in September and I have felt so empty ever since.

Thanks!
