Any advice for someone who has to keep a cat in one room

Some of you might be mad at me already from the caption but yeah, I have to keep my cat in a single room. The reason for this is that my house is pretty open because my family doesn't close the doors since we have gates but the gates have a design where small animals (like cats and smaller ones) can easily get in and out. I tried convincing my dad to change the gates at some point before I have to go back to school so that I wont have to worry about my cat being cooped up in my room all day (I'm out for around 11-15 hours for school since my school is cities away). My dad has been considering it for a while but it doesn't seem he has any intention to anytime soon.

This thought has been plaguing my mind ever since my dad brought the kitten home and because of that my anxiety skyrocketed. Don't get me wrong I want the cat around but if I have to I'll give him a new home. I just feel really bad that this kitten wouldn't be able to live their life as they should. What frustrates me is that the rest of the family asked for this kitten but dont want to adjust for it and out of pity I took the kitten out of its cage and into my room (yes they planned to keep it in a cage, not even the ones with more than one level).

My room has a big window (2m x 1.65m) with a place where the kitten can hang out, a cat tower, various hangout spots, a litter box and two extra scratch posts by my desk and near his food. I play with him before meals (not exactly before dinner because after playtime i bring him downstairs to a cage with 4 levels so he can interact with the family and eat with us) but of course once fave to face classes come along I wont be able to do that. Also, before breakfast I walk him on a harness around the second floor (the family is too chaotic in the morning and are usually downstairs)

Any advice or tips on how I can further optimize my kitten's life here? Should I just put him up for adoption?
