Me and my fiancé have 3 cats one is 10, one is 6, and one is 4 all female not fixed. they share 2 litter boxes which are enclosed with the easy clean sifter in it and the last couple of days we have noticed that the litter box is a bit smellier than usual. We clean it regularly and recently have gone back to using the silica crystal litter instead of the paper pellets since it’s more compatible with the type of litter boxes we have. I must also note that all 3 of our kitties won’t exactly dig in the litter to bury their poopie and just digs at the side of the box instead and this has been the case which all of the litters we’ve had. Lately though within the last couple of days I’ve had to scoop the litter right away after one of our kitties uses it because it smells so bad that it makes my fiancé gag to the point where she can’t get anywhere near it. so I’m wondering if there is something that could be causing this to happen and if there is anything we can do about it. Also instead of putting their poop directly in with our everyday garbage I have picked up a box of doggie poop bags to put the kitty doo do in so it does make the rest of the house smelly. Any way what could be causing the litterboxes to be extra stinky and what solutions can you provide.
