Hey everyone! I have a Campbell’s dwarf hamster named Socks.
Socks is roughly two years old, I rescued her from being snake food in the summer of 2019, and her previous owner said she had purchased her in January of 2019.
Recently she’d been much less active than usual, and I’m getting the sickening feeling she might be passing away. I’m not sure if I should take her to the vet to see if she’s got something wrong that can be treated, or just let it go on?
I’m super conflicted because I really want her to lead the longest, healthiest life possible, but: 1. She’s very old, and could very well just be passing from old age. 2. The nearest exotic pet vet to me is over two hours away and RIDICULOUSLY expensive. 3. Even if there is something they can do to help her, she probably doesn’t have that much life left anyways (her species typically lives 2-3 years)
What do I do? I’m absolutely sick over this. Thanks.
