I have two cats, one male and one female.
Female is about 3 years old, and an absolute angel. She was bitey when she was little but she basically just grew out of it after awhile.
The male however....about a year and a half. And is absolutely driving me insane! Let me explain why:
He follows me everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. And no, not in a cute way. He inadvertently gets kicked or stepped on frequently as I dont know he's there. I've tripped, dropped shit plenty of times, etc etc.
Now the big issue, is he constantly wants attention and as soon as you start petting him, he starts play biting your hand. Within a manner of seconds.
Him following me? He will bite my ankles, my legs, my thighs, etc. Bit my ass several times while I've been sitting on the toilet. I've had to lock him out of my bedroom at night cuz he's woken me up multiple times by biting my face neck and hands because he wants attention.
The second I sit on couch, he wants to hop up, and struggles to sit still, has to be in mouth distance from my hands. I'll put my hands behind my head, or under the blanket, and he will get pissed until he has access so he can bite them for attention. He gets pissed if I don't allow him near my face when I'm sitting or laying, cuz he will nip at the face.
He's not trying to hurt me, he's just having a really bad behavior issue with the biting and I have to figure out how to stop this or otherwise I'll need to give him up.
I'm absolutely obsessed with the female cat, but I can't bond with this male cat, after a year and a half! because you simply can't go near him, you are always running away for fear of being bit.
Things I've tried:
-Squirt bottle (wasn't my idea, former boyfriend apparently thought this was okay, all bottles have since been tossed and would not ever use again)
-Saying "No!" when he does it, pulling hand away, and getting him off my lap/couch/walking away.
-Treat method. Give him a treat when he doesn't bite, no treat when he does.
-Toys. Prefers me versus toys. When he does play with the toys, he gets so aggressive that he destroys them. Just bought a feather/mouse wand thing last week, and he started acting like a dog and just pulling on it like tug a war...to the point he ripped it in half and had blood all over it from his gums.
HELP!
