I have a 20 year old cat who cries every evening at the same time and every night at the same time. In the evening usually around 5-6 PM. He cries and I always tell him that I am here and he is quiet. Then in the middle of the night he cries very loudly. Almost like he is in pain but when I go to see what is wrong he runs like a bolt of lighting back down to my basement. I bring him up to pet him and such but he always just wants to go back down stairs. I am afraid he may have some health issues I am not aware of and that I can not afford. He seems okay when I am downstairs with him and/or petting him and spending time with him. But I just don't know if its time for him to go or not. I don't think so but what can I do to stop the crying in the middle of the night? Sometimes it is so loud it wakes us up. Maybe he has separation anxiety? I dunno. Thoughts?
