So I recently got a cat from someone in my neighborhood, the cat is about 10 years old, and I took the cat to the vet because I suspected the cat had some underlying illness. The previous owner only took the cat to the vet when the cat was young to get neutered, so I feel like over the years the cat may have had health problems that were just ignored. After the vet appointment, I got told the cat has UTI and bad tooth decay, potentially more illnesses but need to wait for blood test results. So the bill for first vet visit came to around £300, should the previous pet owner be responsible at all? I'm also at "trial period" which means I have a month to decide whether the cat is suitable for me or not, I can take the cat back but after seeing how the previous owner didn't take the best care of the cat, I don't really want to.
Note: I didn't give payment for the cat as the owner said I was doing her "a favour" by taking in this cat as her younger cats were bullying the senior cat.
