My cat who’s 9 months old Was diagnosed 3 days ago with kidney failure. We only noticed symptoms 4 days ago when she was wobbling to walk so we rushed her to the vet that morning. The vet told us that her kidneys were shutting down. The vet also gave us medication to take to see if she would get better in a week. Our cat was a stray runt of the litter that was rejected by the mother and we were warned that she would have a lot of issues since her genetics were not favorable I just didn’t think it would be this quick since she’s only 9 months old. The past 8 months she has been great very cuddly very active shows no signs of being in pain. I know cats have a high pain tolerance but she was literally the perfect cat.
So far it has only gotten worst since we have been to the vet. When we took her to the vet she was still able to walk and now three days later she can barely pick her head up. Her body temp was cold but has now started to warm up. Her paws shake anytime she tries to move. We are giving her the medication and keeping her comfortable with food and water nearby. The vet told us we would have to force water mixed with ped-a-lyte into her system using a syringe if she wouldn’t drink. She hasn’t been drinking so to keep her hydrated that’s what I’ve been doing. It’s so hard to see her suffer this way especially at such a young age. In a week we have to make the decision of putting her down if she doesn’t show any rebound progress. I need advice from people who have gone through similar situations and if there is even a slight chance of her rebounding. Thank you .
