My 13 year old cat has had kidney disease for awhile and was in the process of losing his sight when he fell victim to the high blood pressure issue of detached retinas. Considering that he has a pretty large array of medical issues already, this wasn’t a surprise, but he seemed to have lost the entirety of his sight almost overnight. While he’s a lovable and alert little thing, he always had fuzz for brains and doesn’t seem to be able to commit anything to memory, even from when he could see. We’ve tried appealing to his sense of smell as well, but he seems unable to smell his box, and doesn’t particularly care for catnip toys. I’m agonizing over how to help him adjust to his new situation, and any help would be so appreciated.
TL;DR: My senior cat has suddenly lost his vision, has shoddy hearing, and bad memory and sense of smell to boot. Any advice on helping him adjust?
