I'm getting a kitten (4 months) and I need some advice about how they are different from dogs (which I had).
- Dogs should view you as a leader of their group
Ok about this one I heard that cats are lonely hunters so they probably won't do this but, do you somehow need to assert your dominance so that the cat knows you're his boss ? (like you do with dogs)
- If a dog does something wrong (ex. biting you), you should punish them (ex. shouting NO at them, maybe slapping them), what about cats ?
Also unrelated to behavior, we have a house with a medium sized garden, I would like to let her go outside whenever she wants, we have a fence that a cat can fit through so she will likely get out, how long should I keep her only inside until I let her outside the first time ? Also, how long should I supervise her, knowing she will likely explore outside the garden when left unsupervised ? We're at a dead end street = not that many cars
