I have a 7.5 month old female spayed domestic shorthair kitten named Otter. She doesn't seem very playful. When she was really little (I got her in November) she would chase her toys around and play fishing pole toy with me, but she always seemed to get sick of her toys really quickly (10 min to a day) and would stop playing and only start again when I got her something new.
I know playing with her is important for bonding, but she just doesn't seem that interested. She has millions of toys (a fishing pole toy, balls, a cat dancer, tons of catnip mice and catnip cats and catnip fish, a trout that flops around on battery power, a ball toy with three tiers, a dental avocado, a dental cactus, a few stuffed animals that are hers, and that's in addition to the odds and ends she finds to play with like pens and plastic forks). I thought kittens her age were supposed to want to play for HOURS every day?
I've been waving the cat dancer in the air for an hour so far this morning and she's only halfheartedly gone after it once. She'll sit there and meow until I start waving it around, and then she'll stop meowing but still doesn't seem to want anything to do with it.
Any tips? Maybe it's just her personality? Maybe I need to start putting her toys away for a while so they're new to her when I bring them out again? Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks.
