I've had my 9 year old cat for about 3-4 years and over the last two weeks she has seemingly been very picky about eating out of her dish. She will take several bites out of it sometimes, sometimes I will have to sit with her to get her to eat a normal-ish amount, but more generally she will really only be interested in eating if I am hand feeding her or placing the food somewhere else like on the bed where she is sitting. I am not sure what to do--if this is something really serious or if she was just being fussy and now her training me to bring her food has trained her to expect it. I am very nervous as I have to physically go back to work next week and I can't spend time babying her and sitting with her during the day. I had thoughf if she was hungry she will eat, but a lot of internet searches I have done seem to suggest that's not the case and it can lead to larger issues. She does have vomiting issues that the vet suggested could be due to liver issues-- when I took her in for bloodwork her liver enzymes were high. I wonder if this could be an offshoot of that, causing her to not want to eat.
Any advise or suggestions would be helpful. I plan to call the vet in the morning for advice but again with me having to go back to work on Monday it's a tight turnaround and I am just so stressed out.
