Hi! So, a week or two back, I made a post about my 6-month-old cat and how she has hard-to-combat fleas. A good news update on that, we’re starting a new flea treatment and we’ve found a vet that we like a lot better.
But since then, we found a little kitten in the road that really needed some help. She’s somewhere between four and six weeks old. We took her to the vet and did a health check, and she’s in decent shape aside from having been very dirty and pretty underweight. In case anyone is concerned, we absolutely did our best to reunite baby with mom, but there were no adult cats to be found and it was 100° outside, so we took her in.
Currently we have her living in our closet because the bigger cat is not a huge fan. Their relationship is improving but the little kitten is so tiny that I’m not ready to trust big cat with unsupervised access. Mostly she just stares at the kitten from a distance.
Every night when we put her in the closest for bed, she cries. We can stop her from crying momentarily if we feed her, but she’ll cry again as soon as she’s finished. It’s really sad but she’s so tiny that I don’t want to keep her in bed with us because she could get hurt. And she can’t stay with big cat because I don’t trust her enough, yet.
It’s my understanding that normally, this kitten would still be with her mother, and so she’d sleep with others and not alone. Am I doing damage by putting her to bed by herself? I try to make sure that she gets as much attention as possible during the day. If we’re home, she’s with us. Except at night. Is she going to be okay, or am I giving this kitten a complex?
