House cats introduced to a semi-feral cat colony

My mother recently decided to take our two house cats (both male, one castrated) to our other house outside of the city.

There, she takes care of 15+ wild cats. Our castrated older cat who had prior experiences with wild cats fit in well and none of the cats were scared of him. The younger cat, who was never outside of the apartment, was terrified, just as much as the other cats were of him (he is a huge cat, not castrated).

He mostly stayed inside for the first few days, but then he just disappeared one day. It's been a week now, and he did not return. While I understand that he is scared of the 15+ cats which roam around the house, I was expecting him to be nearby.

Does anyone know if there is a chance of him returning? Is he just trying out the wild life before coming back? We had a similar experience with the older cat years ago, but he came back after 3 days.

I don't know if this post is according to rules, but my mother is crying every night blaming herself for him not coming home, and I'd like to know how I could find him, lure him, or if he will come back on his own.

P.S. I could post a video of her feeding all of those wild cats if anyone is interested
