I have a 13 week kitten that I adore. We've had her since she was 9 weeks old.
We usually give her a lot of attention (lots of pets, she sleeps near us while we work all the time, dangle toys for her/play with her often).
Recently we had to go out of town for week and left her with a friend who has some cats of her own (they have a big house and my kitten is separated from hers so there is no fighting). I'll be picking her up again in a few days.
My kitten has adjusted exceptionally well - she purrs and cuddles with my friend the catsitter all the time. My friend says that her cats get upset when she takes away their specific toys or food, but my kitten doesn't care + doesn't seem particularly attached to anything. My cat's friends cry when she leaves; my kitten doesn't seem to miss us at all (didn't cry when we left).
I'll love my kitten no matter what; I'm just wondering if we've messed up her socialization... Overall, I'm relieved she's not distressed and having fun.
