I thought I'd share my story to see if anyone else has wound up in a similar situation. I'm also looking for advice on cat food (see bottom of post).
So I've found myself in a bit of a pickle. At the beginning of the pandemic, my neighbor's abandoned their two cats and I took them in. Little did I know, they were both pregnant.
Fast forward to now and I have 16 cats. I already had a few of my own, plus the two mother cats and their litters. We planned on re-homing them, but the pandemic made it difficult. Now, they are grown and we've gotten attached to them and couldn't see ourselves giving them up.
However, as you can imagine, keeping a clean and tidy house with so many cats is difficult. Luckily, I have a good sized space and have managed fairly well.
I had every one of the 16 cats spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and they get regular vet visits. I also bought a few of those Litter Robots, which has helped tremendously with keeping up with their litter boxes. A few Shark robot vacuums also helps with the shedding. So believe it or not, no one ever complains about my house being stinky or messy. But they do love being bombarded with kitties!
I turned a spare living area into a kitty den with lots of furniture, toys, food/water stations, etc.
I do spend a ton on cat food and treats every month, so I was hoping for suggestions on the best budget friendly-ish food for my kitties. I don't want to feed them garbage, of course, but would like to know what's out there. I buy my supplies from Chewy, but also have a local Pet Smart and Petco for emergency supplies.
Also, if you've been in a similar situation and decided to keep your kitties, how do you manage?
