I've had a tank for a few days and i keep testing for ammonia (all other levels are fine currently) and its around 1.0, but i JUST realized that my water conditioner (aqueon brand) says it detoxifies ammonia. i had a fish in the tank previously and he sadly passed. i was able to exchange him and now im worried about adding my new fish into the tank. i also added ammo-carb to my filter to help reduce ammonia in the future, so ammonia really shouldnt be an issue, and with the conditioner it shouldnt have been an issue before ? many people ive talked to say that stress or pH/temp shock couldve been the reason for my late fish's passing, and i assume thats what it is likely. my new fish has been in my room, still in the cup, for a few days (to make sure he stays active and unstressed) and currently his cup is floating in the tank to acclimate him, but im still so scared to let him out tonight in fear of losing him, too. any advice?
