I just moved in with one of my closest friends and it's been great so far. I'm close to work and we get along great. But I really hate her cat. I have never disliked a cat before, but he's a main coon and the absolute worst. He meows ALL the time and doesn't know boundaries. He'll go on the counters when I'm not there and his fur is everywhere.
Lately he's been screaming at night right outside my door (he's not allowed in my room) and he'll tear down the hallway by my room. We both have rooms upstairs, and she leaves her door open so he can roam at night. She's a heavy sleeper so she's not woken up by this and she loves him to pieces. But she's not home often so he doesn't get much attention, and I am NOT willing to play with him. I don't want responsibility for this thing.
I tried bringing this up, asking if we can brainstorm for solutions, like having a baby gate at the stairs so he just has the downstairs to himself at night. But she said no to that cause he'd need a litter box down there....??? I don't know why he needs one at night. And she said, "I told you multiple multiple times before you moved in that he was loud" and like yeah, I get that, but it still feels inconsiderate that she won't take care of him to keep him from howling at night and doesn't want to make changes.
