Hi guys,
This is my first ever post on Reddit so forgive me if I’ve done a glaringly obvious error!
Four weeks ago, me and my girlfriend bought our first kitten Clarice. She’s the absolute runt of the litter, she’s thin, gangly and doesn’t weigh much at all. She was eating well, playing well and seemed the settle in good. She does sleep in our bed and she can be quite clingy but I just imagined this is what runts are like.
We’ve just brought home another kitten for a playmate, Albie. He’s a very healthy weight and looks twice the size of Clarice. He’s very playful and if he’s not sleeping he’s playing. He’s very interested in play fighting with Clarice but it involves a lot of hissing and growling and it doesn’t seem very playful. Most of the play involves Clarice running off before Albie jumps on her and pins her to the floor. I’ve read online that Kitten play seems to swap between who’s on the bottom but it seems to be Clarice always on the bottom and trying to get away.
It’s day 3 since we introduced them and Clarice has lost all interest in playing with her toys - evert time she tries to play with her toys Albie leaps up to play with her and she runs off to me or hisses and runs off to her corner.
Me and my girlfriend are moving in a few weeks to a bigger flat but at the moment we only have to one room to house them (our bed room) so we can’t separate them.
Are we doing anything wrong? Am I bad a cat dad? Is there anything I can do to help?
