Ok cat parents- I have a feeding and appetite question for you.

Hi guys- my cat is a healthy chunky 10 year old boy. Had him since he was a kitten and know his quirks and behaviors extremely well. But lately I’ve just been stumped.

We normally only feed him wet food (cans & packets) and since he’s spoiled he get the occasional table scraps. Never been an issue for us and he loves his wet food. As of late, he’s been willing to eat any and everything EXCEPT his wet food. He would rather starve than eat it. We’ve tried different brands, textures, flavors etc but nope.

I usually don’t give him dry food because our vet said it can cause kidney problems but that’s the only cat food he’s willing to eat now. He still eats human food, but only if it’s seasoned like human food. Meaning he won’t just eat a piece or boiled chicken- he wants it cooked like I would cook mine.

My automatic assumption was he’s just spoiled from eating table scraps, but he’s been eating them for the last 10 years and has never turned away his wet food because of it.

Any ideas? The only reason I haven’t gone to the vet yet is because he’s still eating, just not his normal food.

After throwing away a lot of cat food and money and trying to reason with my cat, I am exhausted. Have any of you experienced this and how did you deal with it?

Thanks guys.

TLDR; cat won’t eat the type of food he’s been eating for 10 years, will eat any and everything else.
