Recently at the local shelter, I found the perfect kitten. However according to the shelter he supposedly has a cold and will need medication for the next week. I absolutely fell in love with him, but we have another 5-6 year old kitty at home and I'm worried that if we adopted him she could get sick too. He was very calm for a kitten, so I was concerned he may be more sick than the shelter was letting on.
I guess what I want to know is how risky it would be to adopt him. Is it common for cats in shelters to carry life threatening diseases? I've personally had some pretty bad experiences adopting dogs with distemper, so I'm a little paranoid. Thanks for any advice!
