My neighbors have cats and allow them to freely roam. I saw them a couple times outside. While I have nothing against the cats, I hate it that they poop in my yard and treat it as their litter box. I found turds on my vegetable garden, mostly on my planters with soil. While this is really a health hazard, my worse concern is for my dog. She is an indoor dog but we go out out every day for a couple hours to exercise in my yard. I let her do her thing while I garden, play, and give her time to roam around and explore. I caught her several times eating cat shit, because I smelled her breathe (which is vomit inducing). That's when I startedbnoticing her getting really ill and stopped eating her food. I took her to the vet because she was losing weight. The vet said she had worms which can be caused by eating fecal matter. While I can control my dog but its impractical to keep an eye on her every minute and it would be awful to keep her from the yard since she loves it. Is there a way I can prevent the cats from pooping in my yard? Does anyone have any advice or solutions? Please help!
