My dog is having surgery to get her tail amputated. She is 4 years old and has such a bad case of happy tail that multiple vets have insisted upon the amputation. Before people say I’m a bad dog owner, I know this surgery is not common in adult dogs, and is often deemed as cruel, however in this case, we have gotten multiple exams and opinions and all of the vets have unanimously told us it needs to be amputated. I’m wondering if anyone else has experience having this surgery done for their dog? What can I expect in terms of after-care and healing time? The vets have all said it shouldn’t bother her once she gets used to it, but I’m worried she’ll be upset (she’s a HUGE drama queen). Any advice or personal stories you have about it are welcome and appreciated! I want to be fully prepared to take care of her and make sure she’s just as happy after as she is now!
