Deer biting each other

Hello guys

I bought a house a couple of weeks ago which has a rather large grassland attached to it. The previous owner had two older (20 years) fallow deer (both female) and asked us if we wanted to keep them as they don't require much tending. We try to care for them as good as we can -> providing enough hay so they are warm, giving them some extra food in the winter,...

Now and then I see some hairs laying around, but I didn't think much of it. Now I start noticing one of them (the larger one) biting the other on while she tries to eat some of the food I laid out.

Today they were running to the back of the grassland because there was someone who they do not know/trust, the smaller one was walking/running in front of the larger one and she got bit by the larger one (or she tried anyway).

I'm wondering why the larger one is attacking the smaller one and how I can prevent this? I was thinking of not feeding them anymore as they have enough food in the grassland anyway, but I don't think this will stop the biting altogether..

I searched for this on the web but can't really find anything about the subject. Hopefully someone here has experience or can point me in the right direction.
