Do some cats just get naturally thinner as they age?

My cat is underweight. He is 13ish (not 100% on that, because he belonged to my mum originally). Not sure on his weight because I can't find the bit of paper from our last vet visit.

He has no health conditions which could be causing it. He is wormed regularly. He eats quite a lot of high protein dry food throughout the day as recommended by the vet, and he drinks plenty. He also has wet food morning and evening, but often only likes the gravy, which I've posted about before.

He is still extremely active and happy, he chats/shouts. But on the rare occasion he feels under the weather, he won't eat for a day and that brings his weight dangerously low and takes effort to get it back up again. My sister has his mother, and she is very slinky and dinky, but not as thin as him. He's always been a slim cat, but in the last year he's at the point where his back hips are quite visible, and you can feel his ribs (but has loose belly skin).

Anyone else got an otherwise healthy cat who is as thin as a rake? I know that humans come in all shapes and sizes, so why not cats? Any tips on food? We've tried a raw diet but he wasn't having any of it.
