My little rescue dog, 9 kg terrier mix was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and my heart is broken, I can’t stop crying. She’s only 3,5 years old. She started showing symptoms a couple of months ago, it always happened when playing with my other dog she would fall and limp badly for a couple of days, everyone told me it was probably just a sprain and not to worry, she always recovered quickly. She started to sit down weird, I would notice little movements she started doing and was told I was just being paranoid. Some days ago she started not being able to jump onto the bed which she’s never had trouble with so I took her to the vet and when he told me I broke down.
Having her put to sleep would shatter my heart, I love this animal so much. But equally, I don’t know if her spending the rest of her life going through pain, discomfort, treatments and surgeries (which I’ve read often aren’t successful) etc is fair, when it’s unlikely that she will ever be able to run and play like she used to. I constantly have to tell my other dog not to play with her which is breaking my heart even more.
Any help or advice of any sort would be so so much appreciated! In advance, thank you! Madeleine
