I adopted her as an adult stray about 10 years ago so I'm not sure how old she is. She was spayed but not chipped.
When I have taken previous cats to the vet they would say that excessive drinking and urinating was a sign of kidney failure and she is doing that. She seems perfectly well other than that.
Obviously I am going to take her in but I was wondering what they were likely to do. I'm guessing that they will recommend a prescription diet? If so how would it be different than regular food? Less salt? Just better quality? Is there an off the shelf food that would not be as expensive or should I just bite the bullet and buy the prescription food?
I have another car that is younger and healthy. They each have their own food bowls. What if she doesn't like her new food and eats out of the other bowl? Will I have to physically separate them? That would be inconvenient but I'll do it if I have to.
Thanks.
