I have a 3 year old male cat named Rumple and last year a female cat in my neighborhood got poisoned by some one that we haven’t identified yet and died leaving her kittens behind; two of them showed up in our house because they heard Rumple’s callings I guess. They both are females and I think that actually help with rumple accepting them quite easily. The problem is now that Rumple won’t come near me at all like he used to before when he was the only cat. He used to sleep with me sharing my side of the bed, purr when I hold him and pet him and even come to my calling when I was looking for him. We had an incredible bond and he help me through some depressive times when I was living alone without my now husband. But everything has changed and I miss him so much and I don’t know what to do. The cats Arya and Merlin are really attached to me because I helped them and I’m a very loving cat mom to them I guess but that has caused him to not come near me maybe because of jealousy. I talk to him, I tell him I love him the same way as always, I pet him, I go on the lookout for him just to show him love because I don’t know if he is feeling bad because I have some more cats to love. He gets along fine with the cats (they are now 7 months old) and they play and chase each other at midnight or during morning when they are most active but he is sleeping now in the patio in a hammock that I made.
If anyone has any advice or opinions about this I would love to know, or if anyone knows about cat behavior that would be great.
