Kitten lost control of limbs! In need of advice!

I just got my 3 year old a kitten. He’s been begging for one for a while. I haven’t really been looking too hard but I found out that one of my friends had rescued a kitten and was trying to find a new home for him. He’s about 6-8 weeks, we believe. My son decided to name him “Miles”. We’ve had him for a week so far.. Tuesday morning he was doing fine, playing and walking around. All of a sudden he couldn’t use his front legs anymore and partially lost control of his neck. I, of course, immediately called my vet and got him in. She initially thought it was some sort of trauma or something neurological going on. She gave him a steroid shot and kept him over night, didn’t help.. His temp is fine, X-rays fine, feline parvo also fine.. She also decided to test for FeLV and FIV those came back fine.. He is eating, drinking, having regular bowel movements/urination, and still lively as ever. He STILL doesn’t have control of his legs or neck really.. They kept him another night and tonight a tech took him home so he wouldn’t be alone up there not able to move all night long. My vet is at a loss and so am I. I’m worried about our sweet Miles, and my 3 year old is devastated. Any thoughts on what it may be or what to do at this point?
