Our cat's personality took a 180

We have a black/white female cat, Patience, who is around 7 years old now. She has lived with me for the last 5.5 years and during that time, I got married, bringing my wife's two dogs (Jack Russell Terriers) into the household and we adopted a kitten, Bruce, who is now almost 2 years old.

Throughout Pateince's life, she has been very reserved, not craving too much attention and very shy to play with toys or cause much of a ruckus. She enjoyed minimal attention and I got used to her just occupying the same space as me and watching me. She did come around for occasional cuddles while I was watching TV or doing low energy activity, but it was limited to maybe 3 times a week.

The introduction of the dogs basically reduced her cuddle time and attention seeking to 0. She would find her own space and admire us humans from afar, but she had no interest in the dogs.

When Bruce was introduced, she also hated him. To this day, she still hisses when he comes near her to play.

However, what has changed in the last few months is her desire for attention and cuddles. She seems to be in constant need of attention now, coming to cuddle with my wife or I any opportunity she gets, and not being afraid even if the dogs are near us. She'll even approach and sniff the dogs curiously.

The change seemed very abrupt. It did not feel as though she gradually got comfortable reaching out for attention. She just one day up and decided to join the family.

What causes such an abrupt change like this?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
