Pet owners: call your vet!

Hi :) I see a lot of questions here that could potentially be solved in one phone call with your vet. I understand seeking support here but for medical advice you really should try reaching out to your vet. I find that whenever I have medical/behavioural problems with my pet my vet is often very helpful and can give advise. Especially if he’s recently been in to the vet and I have some new questions or in noticing some symptoms or behaviours that I’m concerned about, while they can’t diagnose my cat over the phone they are always very helpful in explaining what is expected and normal after the treatment versus what is concerning. They’ve also been really helpful when I ask what symptoms/behaviours are a red flag that he’s not recovering well and may need to be brought in again. Another thing they’ve helped me with on the phone is when I have questions about how to care for my cat at home after a treatment, like advice about medicine and such. And I’ve asked my vet if she thinks small wounds and such need medical treatment or can be treated at home and received good advice too.

Unless I’m really worried I try to call outside the busiest hours so they have more time to answer my questions etc. I assume not all clinics are as good as mine, but I think it’s worth a shot if you have worries. Your vet knows your animal best so they might have valuable input
