This is a legitimate question.
My partner and I have 2 cats. One female (almost 3) and a male (almost 2). We got the female from an ad of someone who had a cat with 3 kittens and she couldn't keep the kittens. The male we got form a neighbour who found him in a farm. They are both well behaved cats. Just the typical things, hair everywhere, the occasional poop in the bathtub, etc. We live in the city but in a closed apartment complex, so they get to go outside for a bit everyday.
My partner and I have been thinking about moving abroad. I want to bring them with us, my partner however thinks that is inhumane to put the cats through the stress of not only moving to a new place, but also a flight and getting used to a new weather. etc. He thinks is best to give them away, but also things is inhumane to give them away to new people who might mistreat them, separate them or make them be more stressed and cause them suffering. So he is of the opinion that the most humane thing to do is to put them down if we cannot find a super extremely suitable person who doesn't have pets and it's willing to adopt both of them as he said that if they are put down they won't have any potential suffering.
As I said, I want to take them and I'm not sure how to convince my partner to be ok with that. I kinda agree with him in the sense of not wanting the cats to suffer any sort of stress.
